The Scientific Glass Blowing Company was founded in 1917, our founder, Fritz Hartwig, came to Britain from Germany in 1908 to work for Otto Baumbach & Company, based in Manchester. Mr. Baumbach worked closely with Ernest Rutherford, the Nobel Prize Winner in Chemistry, at Manchester University.

Sciglass offers an increasingly expanding range of equipment to suit changes required by current methods.

Our business is fast moving which relies on quick and accurate processing systems. We have therefore invested in the most up-to-date computer equipment for our stock allocation and accounting process.

The current issue of the Sciglass apparatus catalogue contains over 35,000 item lines which are readily available. We do, however, stock our customers most widely-used items at Royton for immediate delivery. The comprehensive range covers the most commonly used items of glassware, consumables and apparatus from all the leading manufacturers.

In addition we can source items from overseas for specific requirements or contracts.

For over 30 years Sciglass has been a main distributor of the Fisher brand of laboratory chemicals which was expanded in 1997 to include the Acros range of chemicals, thus giving Sciglass the availability of supply of over 70,000 chemical product lines.

In 2001 we introduced the Sciglass brand of GPR chemicals which are proving to be extremely popular to our customers both within the UK and overseas.
