Rafiki Protection Limited was formed in 1994 and operates from an 11,000 sq. ft industrial manufacturing facility in South Wales.

Rafiki's initial aim was to design and manufacture 'intelligent' conventional fire detectors with the view to incorporating these into more advanced two-wire and addressable systems. The original Multipoint conventional detector was LPC approved in early 1997 and then became the cornerstone of all future systems.

The first Twinflex two-wire system was developed in parallel with the Multipoint development and also launched in 1997. After establishing the Twinflex and Multipoint products as innovative alternatives to traditional conventional systems, further enhancements to the system were added. In 2000 Twinflex Plus was launched. This incorporates checkpoint technology and is ideally suited to buildings with multiple occupancy.
