Aura Ultimate long life fluorescent tubes from the Greenstock Lamp Company are being supplied to the luminaire company Aura Corporation Ltd to offer Superlife versions of its Actulite polarised daylight fluorescent fittings.
By using specially patented light polarising panels, the Actulite fittings increase visual acuity by 120% meaning that only 350 lux is needed to be achieved from these fittings for average ambient lighting levels where normally 500 lux would be required. The manufacturer of the Actulite fittings is delighted to have found such a long life fluorescent tube to complement its high efficiency fitting as managing director Tony Morrey explains, “ The standard daylight tubes which we offer with our fittings have about a 20,000 hour life so the Aura Ultimate T8 lamps provide four times the life and further increases the economy of our lighting package.” He continues, “There are some clear benefits when you know that in large organisations it costs around £100 to change a fluorescent tube and that with waste disposal much tighter under the WEEE Directive, there are far less lamp changes and hence far less waste and greatly reduced labour costs. “
The Aura Ultimate lamps are run on electronic ballasts to achieve the 80,000 hour life, and over that period only see a 10% degradation in light output. The secret of the huge lifetime is in Aura’s patented cathode shield construction and inside protection layer. These 85% CRI rated lamps come in several wattages and six different colour temperatures and for the Actulite polarised daylight lighting have been specified as colour 865, the daylight 6500K lamps.
The Actulite polarised daylight fittings are increasingly being used in hospitals and the health sector both in wards and operating theatres where despite the demands of climate change, running times cannot be reduced. The Actulite Superlife option with its guaranteed life of up to 80,000 hours thus carries a big benefit to the health service where a long reliable life is required and where maintenance teams are reducing due to financial pressures. |
