Considerations for installing underfloor heating

The biggest issues when installing under floor heating on suspended floors [both standard and I-beam joist] are really nothing to do with under floor heating; the vast majority of issues are building requirements.

The Swedish manufacturer Lagerstedt & Krantz now offer a real solution to these building issues with their LK WOOD22™ floor system. Manufactured from floor grade, environmentally approved and certified chipboard, the board is 22mm thick and pre-routed for LK’s super flexible 16mm PE-Xa pipe. The system includes “turning-boards” complete with factory fitted aluminium heat distribution plates and is designed to be fully load bearing for joist widths of up to 600mm centres. The system is capable of providing up to 75W/m² out-put.

LK WOOD22™ is a “common sense” system, but LK takes any “guess-work” out of installation, as they will design the system for the installer.

Laid as “first-fix” flooring, it replaces the usual chipboard, thus eliminating the need for additional carpentry [e.g. notching and support noggins] and building work normally associated with traditional aluminium plated systems. Crucially the system also answers Health & Safety requirements on building sites as, once laid, there are no gaps between the joists.
