 Many hotels find the compromise between providing spacious rooms with a well designed, good sized bathroom a dilemma. To remain suitable for their target market is it a question of size being compromised by quality or quality compromised by size?
Castleton Hotel in Paddington, London was recently acquired by new owner Stephen Pearson who wanted to enhance the old interior but was limited by the lack of space in some of the rooms. Speaking to the project manager of Cresent Projects Keith Burch, Pearson required low maintenance bathrooms that were easy to clean and wouldn’t require decorating.
In this case, they decided that bathroom pods would be an ideal solution; compact in size, specifically designed to be easy to clean and maintain and cost effective. The manufacturer of the bathroom pods, Baudet were also happy to accommodate Castleton hotel when it came to the installation of the pods and agreed to deliver the 16 required pods to the hotel, dismantle them, carry them into place and then re-assemble.
Burch said of Baudet, “Baudet was one of the very few manufacturers able to accommodate this. My client was also very impressed with the choice of finishes Baudet offered.”
The pods used were of three different models, the Saphir, Amethyste and Onyx in order to fit different room sizes. All the pods were upgraded to include chrome accessories for a luxury finish, and came complete with fixtures such as mirrors, towel rails and shaver sockets.
The Castleton Hotel owner, Stephen Pearson, is delighted with the results, “The pods look great and I am particularly impressed with Baudet and its after sales service. In fact, we are so pleased with the end result that we have specified a further 48 pods for another hotel later in the year”.
Keith Burch added, “The bathroom pods have a similar appearance to conventional bathrooms yet are much quicker to install. The hotel has had excellent feedback from guests, and housekeeping has commented how easy they are to keep clean.”
