Terram, one of the leading manufacturers of geotextile products, has just expanded its range of specialist geotextiles to signify hazards below ground to subsequent site users.

This range of best-selling geotextiles can now be made to customer specification in different roll lengths and a selection of colours, offering more choice and flexibility for Terram distributors and end users.

Terram’s orange geotextile products incorporate an orange top surface to warn of potentially hazardous material underneath, and so are well suited to areas such as landfill sites, or where there is contaminated ground below such as buried asbestos.  As a composite drainage material, Terram geotextiles retain their drainage abilities yet have a coloured top layer for high visibility and warning for when the site is subject to ground works in the years to come.  Although traditionally orange-coloured, these geotextiles can now be ordered, subject to minimum quantities, in a variety of different colours and roll sizes to suit the individual project.

With the constant development of brownfield sites, Terram’s geotextile range can help ensure that environmental and safety requirements are adhered to, and is one of the company’s best-selling lines.  Its orange geotextile has been specified for a variety of projects since its launch in 2006.  Recent specifications include work on the site of a major international sporting event due to take place in London and on a housing estate in Wigan.  As part of the remediation of contaminated soil underneath the Ince Central Estate in Wigan, The Casey Group of contractors installed Terram’s orange geotextile to warn future site workers of the presence of hazardous material below.  David McCormack of The Casey Group commented, “Terram’s orange geotextile was easy to install.  It is a high-quality geotextile which was ideal for this purpose in dealing with contaminated soil, and we are very pleased with the end result.”
