BBN International announces the latest liquid crystal product development by Lightwaves 2020. The new Wide Band Variable Optical Attenuator (VOA) operates from 1260 to 1640nm. Compared to other technologies, the liquid crystal VOA has no moving parts, continuous tuning, low insertion loss, small footprint, accurate power control, ease of use and low cost. The LC VOA is designed to operate in normally on (bright) or normally off (dark) versions. With proprietary technologies in liquid crystal optics, Lightwaves 2020 has long been recognised as a leader and major supplier in liquid crystal based products particularly, VOAs for optical communications.
